How I Review Cigars

I have decided after much personal deliberation, that I will not review cigars based on a numeric model. I think scoring is very conjecture-based and I can't see subscribing to something I simply don't adhere to. I've had quite a few Cigar Aficionado 90+ sticks I've simply hated, so, hopefully you won't take offense, but I won't be following that business model. I will simply break up my reviews into a few sections that hopefully really capture what I want to relay in my tasting. They are as follows:

Appearance, Construction, and Pre-light - simply what it looks, feels, and draws like.
Burn, Taste, and Strength - here I will measure its combustion performance, flavor, aroma, and body, and overall nicotine strength, and is also where the traditional thirds will be measured.
Final Impression - lastly, where I will or will not recommend you try it out

I am hesitant to put how much I pay for each particular stick because based on where you live it could very by as much as a few dollars. Be that as it may, I will still put the price I paid, if I can remember, and when and where I purchased it, if I can remember.

In the end, I wanted to put together something that would be informative and quick, an aspect of certain review styles that are popular, and of which I appreciate when I find myself seeking opinions on a certain stogie. Hopefully you will find what I have to say relevant and entertaining. I will try my best to keep it as simplistic and yet as information-ally forthcoming as possible. As complex and alluring as they are, cigars are pretty straightforward when being reviewed, I find, and I hope you find my reviews just the same.

  1. Perfect. It is, after all, a matter of personal preference. I am still learning this all. I am not able to pick out different flavors, but I can tell a strong and peppery, or spicy cigar. I have a few favorites, but I could not pinpoint the reason, I just like certain ones.
